  • Features & Equipment
  • Malcolm Miller was built in 1967 by John Lewis and Sons in Aberdeen for use by the Sail Training Association. Half of her construction cost was donated by Sir James Miller, and she was named in honour of Sir Miller’s deceased son. She is the sister vessel of S.Y. Sir Winston Churchill. In 2000, she was replaced by another vessel and was subsequently sold and converted to a private pleasure yacht and sailed across the Atlantic twice. In 2008, she undertook fire damage and was abandoned until 2012 when her current owner bought her and had her towed to Gdansk for a complete refit. During this refit, the deck has been completely stripped and rearranged and the layout of the vessel also redesigned in order to improve functionality and reduce the number of required crew. The three masts were refitted and additional jump spreaders installed to reduce the number of backstays. Park Avenue Booms were installed for easy handling of the sails. The original windlass and anchor were renovated and kept. She has been relaunched in 2014.
In 2016-2017, she crossed the Atlantic two more times and participated in the 2017 Tall Ship Races before returning to her home port in Limassol.
